Regular -ER pattern (model: parler)

Remove -er to find the stem, then add the ending for each subject: parler → parl- + ending

  • tu-esparles
  • il / elle / on-eparle
  • nous-onsparlons
  • vous-ezparlez
  • ils / elles-entparlent

Pronunciation note: In many regular -ER verbs, parle, parles, and parlent often sound similar in conversation. The endings are still different in writing — and -ent is silent for a regular ils/elles form.

Apostrophe with je: Before a vowel sound, use j’ (for example j’aime, j’écoute, j’habite).

Nous parlons français en classe.
We speak French in class.
